He is the son of the late Margaret A. Jenkins-Goff of Enid, Oklahoma and the late Ivy Haynes, Sr. of Boynton, Oklahoma. Pastor Haynes was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He lived in Tulsa, Boynton, and Enid, Oklahoma all of his life, but in July 2000, he moved to Arlington, Texas, after interviewing and being hired as a Special Education Teacher at one of the junior high schools in Arlington. Pastor Haynes has served as assistant principal at the elementary, junior high, and high school levels.

He is the father of two daughters: Casandra L. – 24 years old and Jessica C. – who went to heaven November 21, 1994 at the age of 6 years old.
